STUNNED consortium meets for the first project meeting in Bourget-du-Lac, France

STUNNED Partners Gather in France to Align on Energy Community Goals

From May 13 to 14, the STUNNED consortium gathered for a project meeting at Energy Pool’s offices in Bourget-du-Lac, France. All partners traveled for the first in-person meeting after the kickoff, except for the Italian demo site partners and R2M, who participated virtually.

These project meetings, also referred to as general assemblies, provide an important opportunity for partners to connect and discuss common goals and next steps within STUNNED’s mission. In the project’s early stage, the first meeting was essential for all partners and the coordinators, RINA, to refine the scope of each work package and understand the big picture. Deep dives into individual tasks and work packages allow for clarity in the interconnections of tasks within the project. The discussions and presentations on the first day emphasized the collective efforts required to reach STUNNED’s goals of reducing the overall energy demand of groups of end users (buildings) aggregated in energy communities.

The three demo sites in Spain, France, and Italy presented the buildings and energy communities that comprise each of their demo sites, providing basic statistics and information about the current status quo. On the second day, the partners toured some of the buildings that comprise the energy community in France. The partners saw the office buildings of Energy Pool and the surrounding area within STUNNED’s demo site, as well as three houses that comprise one of the two residential energy communities in the French demo site.
Stay tuned for more updates as STUNNED demonstrates how to provide energy flexibility services and facilitate the participation of energy communities in electricity markets.
