Introducing Bourget
en Circuit Court
- Le Bourget du Lac is a town of 5 100 inhabitants, located in the Savoie department, at 12 km of the town of Chambéry.
It is located next to the “Lac du Bourget”, the largest natural lake in France, and hosts one of the largest business and research parc of the area: “Savoie Technolac”, composed of 250 structures including Electricité de France, Institut d’Energie Solaire, Université Polytech Annecy-Chambéry and Energy Pool.
Role of your demo site in STUNNED
The French framework for energy communities is already well structured and coupled with total deployment of DSO smart meters. Therefore it allows very mature demonstrations.
The BOURGET EN CIRCUIT COURT community serves as the first step for the demonstration site. Since a community is a living entity, its evolution is planned to include tertiary, industrial, commercial, or educational buildings, as well as renewable production sites on the longer term. The objective is to gather diverse profiles of production and consumption to enhance the electrical independence of the community with both a social impact of onboarding participants that would not have access to PV energy otherwise and with a positive impact on the local grid balance, utilizing technical, economic, and legal tools that are replicable across Europe.
Challenges
This program presents an opportunity to develop interactions between flexibility services and energy management within energy communities. The “Bourget en Circuit Court” community members expect to grow the community and to increase the valorisation of their assets to both maximise local self-consumption and generate additional income from the explicit flexibility markets. The particular challenges will be to operate such flexibility with limited additional hardware equipment as well as getting transparent information from the stakeholders that valorise the flexibilities.
Use cases
Up to now, the members of the BOURGET EN CIRCUIT COURT community are owners of residential houses. Defining the use cases and customer needs will allow for the testing of different financial settlement strategies coupled to real energetical actuations that optimize the flexibility of various electrical uses, as well as self-consumption among members.
