Over the next 3.5 years, the project will develop an integrated hardware and software solution that connects the energy management systems of individual players within Energy Communities. By optimizing energy production, consumption, and flexibility services, STUNNED aims to balance supply and demand, ensuring a stable and reliable electricity grid. These solutions will be tested and demonstrated in six residential buildings, one office building, four industrial buildings, and five commercial buildings across Italy, Spain, and France.

RINA-C, as the Project Coordinator of the STUNNED EU funded project, is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the project, ensuring that the goals and expected outcomes are met within the specified time frame and budget. Furthermore, RINA-C will provide
essential technical expertise to develop optimization algorithms for controlling and managing a multi-layer environment. This system will be designed to operate in real-time, seamlessly integrating with physical hardware and SCADA while coordinating with the STUNNED Flexibility Gateway and ELLIOT CLOUD Platform. Additionally, a robust business model, along with a planning and techno-economic roadmap, will be developed to effectively exploit the STUNNED solution. An IPR Manual will also be created to protect the project’s intellectual property, all under the leadership of RINA-C.

The University of Deusto is a Higher Education and Research Institution. DeustoTech is the Research Institute of the Faculty of Engineering, with a track-record of several decades in applied research in the field of engineering. The Deusto Sustainable Research Group specializes in research in the fields of smart grids, and energy in the built environment, with a cross-disciplinary team of energy specialists and engineers of various domains.
Deusto will lead model development and coordinate with optimization processes to deliver flexibility and services to the grid. Deusto will focus on developing actionable, short-term, data-driven transient forecasting models. These models will be integrated into a model calibration server, and be deployed over the STUNNED data infrastructure.

The CEA is a major research organisation working in the best interests of the French State, its economy and citizens. Thanks to its strong roots in fundamental research, it is able to provide tangible solutions to meet their needs in four key fields: Low-carbon energy (nuclear and renewable) – Digital technology – Technology for medicine of the future – Defense and national security. The CEA made the Top 100 Global Innovators list that recognises organisations having demonstrated above-the-bar innovation performance for the past 10 years (Clarivate ranking). It is also the leading French organisation that registers the most patent applications in Europe according to the European Patent Office (EPO) 2022.
The CEA will primarily contribute to the “hardware/software integration, testing and interoperability” topics (T3.4). Specifically, final verification and validation tests of the STUNNED system prior to its deployment on demonstration sites will be carried out on CEA’s Grid Control Lab platform, using real equipment such as BESS, photovoltaic power plants and emulated building energy consumption devices.
The second main contribution will be to lead the WP4 “Demonstration leader”, coordinating demonstration activities from data acquisition, executive design of demonstration interventions, STUNNED system deployment and equipment installation to monitoring and impact evaluation to assess the effectiveness of the STUNNED system.

At the heart of the smart grid revolution, Energy Pool manages and optimises complex energy systems including energy grids, industrial sites, distributed generation, renewable energy sources, and storage assets – for a more reliable, affordable and sustainable energy. Beyond providing grid services, Energy Pool’s flexibility solutions deliver multiple benefits: they reduce CO2 emissions, facilitate the seamless integration of renewable energy, and help achieve significant cost savings. Energy Pool has been one of the pioneers of the French electricity flexibility market since 2009, providing demand-side management solutions to support grid stability during peak hours.
Energy Pool has now more about 400 employees. While its headquarters remain in France, Energy Pool has established a strong presence in Japan and Turkey since 2015, the Netherlands since 2018, and is actively driving projects in around 10 other countries, including Germany, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand. The company is committed to working with both clients and governments to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
With growing penetration of distributed energy sources, new objects are structuring the energy landscape with the creation of energy communities that integrate their own optimization function such as collective self-consumption of PV energy. Within Stunned, Energy Pool is in charge of the high level flexibility valorization for such communities.

MIWenergia is an electricity retailer SME from Murcia that operates in the whole Spanish territory, specialised in the commercialisation of electricity for home and business. The company is focused on providing innovative energy efficiency solutions and high added value services. Its services include the representation of renewable energy producers in the energy markets, self-consumption systems, the development and managing of Energy Communities and ICT solutions for monitoring and improving energy efficiency.
Since 2017, MIW have participated as a demonstrator in several European projects in the areas of smart buildings, energy efficiency, flexibility and demand response, data management and energy monitoring systems in which we were in charge of the deployment of the system, testing and evaluation of the solution. We have actively collaborated on the development of new business models and the dissemination and communication activities. The company has experience as partner in 16 EU-funded projects and its currently coordinating one HEU project.
In STUNNED, MIWenergía is the leader of the Spanish demonstrator and will be responsible of all the activities developed in the pilot during the project. As electricity retailer and balance responsible party (BRP) in energy markets, MIWenergia will explore their role as aggregator in the energy and flexibility markets, in order to be involved also as Balance Service Provider (BSP). In addition, MIWenergía, will support the development of the use cases, and the exploitation and D&C activities.

R&D NESTER is private Research & Innovation Centre co-owned by the Portuguese TSO, focused on applied research on the energy sector towards a smart, clean, efficient and sustainable energy system. R&D NESTER has several key areas of activity including power systems operation and planning, power systems simulation, renewables energy management, smart grid technologies and energy markets and economics.
R&D NESTER owns a Real-Time Power System Simulation Laboratory (RTPSS Lab) including 2 large Real-Time Power System Simulators and different equipment for research, development and testing of innovative solutions. R&D NESTER actively participates in multiple international working groups and innovation platforms such as IEC, CIGRÈ, CIRED, ETIP-SNET and BRIDGE.
As a TSO-related company, R&D NESTER will support definition of the specification of the flexibility markets and support the market and regulatory analysis (WP1). R&D NESTER will develop the market emulator for flexibility services, considering Italian and Spanish context, based on the best practice for SDAC/SIDC markets and mFRR/RR services (WP3), taking into consideration interoperability aspects. R&D NESTER will also support the specification of the TSO and DSO interaction with the STUNNED platform (WP4), providing recommendations for improved TSO-DSO coordination. Finally, R&D NESTER will collaborate in the coordination, scalability, dissemination, exploitation and standardization activities of the project (WP5, WP6 and WP7).

Cuerva is an energy utility company with over 80 years of experience in the energy sector, providing comprehensive solutions across the entire energy value chain. From renewable energy generation to its distribution as a local DSO, Cuerva has a proven track record in the construction, operation, and maintenance of energy infrastructure. Additionally, Cuerva offers industrial and building services, with a strong commitment to research and innovation, ensuring cutting-edge solutions in the energy field.
Cuerva participate in the STUNNED project in the Spanish pilot as a DSO. The CUE distribution network will serve as a real framework for the implementation of a local flexibility market, where the three buildings in the Spanish pilot will act as flexibility service providers. As a DSO, Cuerva will conduct an analysis of its network during operation to detect voltage and frequency events. Once detected, through the STUNNED platform, it will request flexibility activation to address these events and restore the network to stable and secure voltage and frequency levels. Cuerva also leads the development of two tasks in the project. In WP1, it leads Task 1.4 on Contractual Elements in European Individual Flexibility Markets, and in WP4, it leads Task 4.4 on DSO and TSOs Interaction with the STUNNED Platform.

New Concisa S.L.U. is a business group headquartered in Murcia with offices in the USA and Chile. The company has been dedicated to the processing of seafood products for more than 3 decades and has a staff of 150 employees, distributed in different departments.
The products produced by the company are mostly frozen cephalopods, where the bulk of its production is centered on cuttlefish, octopus, Pacific potato and squid. The products are received frozen from suppliers in other countries such as Morocco, Mauritania, Chile and Peru, among others. The final sales format of these products is also frozen, being exported mainly to countries throughout Europe and the USA.
New Concisa headquarters that are located in Murcia are part of the Spanish pilot in STUNNED project.
New Concisa will take part in all the activities related with the demonstrator as well as in D&C and exploitation activities. With the support of MIWenergía (leading the pilot), the flexibility that the industry can provide will be tested in order to reduce New Concisa electricity bills and provide balancing services to the grid.

Beko plays a key role in the STUNNED project by integrating its cloud-based smart home management platform, HomeWhiz, with the project’s energy flexibility and control systems. This involves developing open interoperability frameworks to enable seamless communication between smart appliances, DSOs (Distribution System Operators), and energy service providers. Arçelik is responsible for establishing real-time energy monitoring, demand response, and load balancing mechanisms, ensuring that appliances contribute to grid stability and optimization. Additionally, Arçelik will deploy and validate its solutions in Spanish and French pilot sites, testing the interaction between smart home devices and the energy network. The company also leads the development of the Home Appliances – DSOs Interaction Mechanism, a key deliverable analyzing how smart appliances can provide flexibility services. Through its participation, Arçelik aims to enhance energy efficiency, support sustainability goals, and strengthen its expertise in smart energy management and appliance-grid integration.
Steinbeis Europa Zentrum (SEZ) is an independent economic entity within the Steinbeis Foundation. It was founded in March 1990 as the operational unit of the Commissioner for Europe of Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Economics. SEZ’s core activity is to promote European Research and Technology Development programmes and to support cross-border technology transfer. SEZ supports small and medium-sized enterprises on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing of Baden-Württemberg. At the same time, it supports Universities of Applied Sciences on behalf of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg. Moreover, SEZ is involved in several EU-funded projects (more than 70 in 2023) as either partner or coordinator, taking over tasks related to dissemination, communication, exploitation or financial and administrative project management.

Elliot Cloud is the first company founded as a spin-off from Bosonit in 2020. The main business area is the provision of IT Consultancy services for major corporations in Spain, Europe, and South America. Its main product, ElliotCloud platform, is a platform as a service that connects and manages all sorts of IoT devices, allowing fast deployment of secure and scalable systems. The platform is based on FIWARE open-source standards and can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud. Its vertical domains include smart water, industry, energy and cities.
Elliot Cloud will be responsible for the development of the STUNNED Orchestration Platform. In this way, Elliot Cloud will contribute to IoT connectivity, data management, interoperability, and data visualisation.

The Institute Mihajlo Pupin (IMP) is a leading Serbian R&D institution in information and communication technologies, combining systems engineering and information technology to develop innovative solutions for automation and control, e-government, telecommunications, etc. Through a progressive approach to problem-solving and continuous monitoring of the latest scientific and technological trends, IMP drives the development and implementation of advanced ICT solutions, integrating cutting-edge technologies. The Institute has successfully executed numerous projects of national importance and has a strong international presence, having participated in 118 EU-funded projects to date. IMP stands as a prime example of successful bridging of academia and industry. As recognized by a European Commissioner during a visit to the Institute, it serves a “good example of bringing an innovative R&D pool together”.
The Institute Mihajlo Pupin has joined the STUNNED consortium as the developer and provider of the Flexibility Gateway technology. As the core component of STUNNED’s aggregation technology, the Flexibility Gateway bridges the gap between aggregator business and market tools, flexibility providers, prosumers’ energy management, and building management systems. Both its software and hardware are built upon IMP’s commercial supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology. From the initial system architecture design to the development, testing, and final demonstration of the STUNNED platform at three pilot sites, the IMP plays a crucial role in unlocking end-user flexibility through an effective synergy between smart flexibility management and versatile software ad hardware infrastructure.

HubWatt is a French company providing innovative digital solutions for the design, deployment, and operation of energy communities. We enable peer-to-peer energy trading and **virtual/collective self-consumption **at a local level. Our platform manages the entire energy flow within communities composed of multiple meters and participants. We distinguish between:
Self-consumption, where energy produced and consumed is allocated across different meters in the same entity, and
Local energy trading, where the energy is sold between different parties (producers and consumers) based on contractual agreements.
Through our end-to-end approach—from community design to ongoing operation—we empower local stakeholders to take control of their energy, optimize their financial returns, and contribute to a more decentralized and resilient energy system.
